intervals

Some mornings mess with you. This one messed with me.

I was still super sore/stiff from my race on Saturday but had done nothing Sunday so figured it would be good to try and get in another reasonably hard workout. Turns out Ryan D had the same idea so we hooked up at Seattle Multisport. Sorta.

When I arrived there were two women on the trainers riding. I figured no problem, I will just wait and so went into the back room not really paying much attention to the fact that the screen was black and no course was being projected.

When I sat down and checked my phone I saw a text from Ryan indication that he was going to be late.

Fast forward to about 6:15 and I'm walking towards the exit thinking that I need to be gone by 7 and I hate working out alone on a trainer so if Ryan is not going to show I'm done. As I head back into the trainer room the women are like, "Oh, were you waiting for us to finish? We're not even using the CompuTrainer system and you could have gotten on any time." Nice.

About this time Ryan shows up and so we get situated on the trainers and fire up our program around 6:20. Then something is wrong with my resistance unit. In an attempt to fix it we unplug it and plug it back in which seemed to work. Until we hit the first interval.

It was then that I realized I was behind Ryan the amount of time my unit had been unplugged (2:15) so since the hardest part of these pyramid intervals were two minutes long, when Ryan started to pedal easy was right when I had to really work.

Oh well, it's my fault for not talking to the women and for being such a wuss about working out alone.
