Bootleg Canyon trail run

When I think of Las Vegas I do NOT think of great running trails but oh how wrong I am.

Shelley and I are visiting family in Henderson, NV and it turns out there is an amazing little mountain bike park in Bootleg Canyon just outside of Boulder City which is only 11 miles away. Done.

Mike (my brother in law) and I pulled up to the 'pagoda' that seems to be a trailhead of sorts and has water (obviously essential in the summer) and toilets. Luckily there was a trail map here too so I was able to get one last look at our route.

Santa came early this year and I got a new toy! It's really cool to see exactly how far you have gone, what your pace is, we're talking stats baby!

The weather was amazing. The sky was BLUE. As we climbed we were running into the wind and it was a little chilly in the beginning but I didn't care. I was on a great, new trail, I felt super and day (like the terrain) was a 180 degree change-up from Seattle. Variety is good.

We cruised along at a leisurely pace and I found myself running up on the berms just like I would if I was on a bike. :) In fact, there was a hardly a moment that I was not thinking how much freaking fun this trail would be on two wheels.

As the day warmed up and we got out of the wind I was able take off clothes and suddenly I was running in just shorts and a short sleeve shirt! I was liking this. A lot.

More please.
