A good day.
In the AM we (Ryan D, Justin A, RC R, Tim F and I) explored a new hill down by Beacon Hill. I think they liked it.
Then they all had to suffer my super special route home which weaves through all kinds of neighborhoods and bike paths. In the process RC almost rode right into a pole. :( Still, the fantastic weather and company was invigorating.
At Seattle Multisport I was about to start with my threshold set to 310 watts when Greg K says, "Hey Martin, isn't that a little low...?" So I changed it to 320.
I was worried as last week (310 watts) seemed pretty sufficient in terms of resistance but I made it. And it was hard. The last five minutes of each interval felt pretty uncomfortable not just in terms of effort but also in terms of position on the bike, etc. It's like a million things were distracting me.
I had a heart rate monitor on but it freaked out during the second effort registering 199 most of the time and peaking at 205. Not possible.
I think a good goal for me would be to set my threshold at 350 watts by the end of the 10 session series? We'll see. Someone said these trainer numbers are a bit high and you can't do the same on the road.
