After a good night's sleep I met Greg K and we headed up to Bellingham.
The weather looked really suspect on the drive up (read: it was raining!) but I tried not not to get too grumpy and good thing too as it cleared right up and ended up being 70+ and sunny for our race.
For the first time this season it looked like every fast Cat 1 and 2 rider that was 40 years old showed up at the start line. Good times. There are a LOT.
The start was not crazy. There were attacks through out but nothing lasted more than one lap it seemed. The headwind on the back straight and the speed of the bunch closed things down pretty fast.
With about eight laps to go I saw Jim F help Michael H get to the front so that told me Keller Rohrback was riding for Mike. But it didn't help me any. :) Honestly it was not my best race. There were a couple of times that I tried to pass on the inside in turn 2 and 3 and each time I happened to be next to Todd G who yelled at me. There were a couple of other times where I had to swerve pretty violently to avoid someone doing likewise in front of me. I did try to go with two moves mid race but they were weak which is how I felt too.
With about 2.5 laps to go Keller Rohrback got on the front and lead it out. I felt fine but then on the back straight on the last lap I just didn't have the courage to maintain my position and got squeezed back. Classic.
Brad K did a good job of staying in position the last three laps but unfortunately got beat by the one buy he was trying to cross the line in front of… Chandler L.
