Wow... I have really been taking it easy this week.
Monday - just some stretching
Wednesday - zip (no time)
Thursday - nada (I got sick)
There are two reasons for this lack of activity.
- I sprained my left ankle about three weeks ago and want it to get strong enough so I can run the Orcas Island 50k tomorrow.
- I'm trying to rest up just in case I do run the Orcas Island 50k tomorrow.
I was going to see my PT today and was resolved to let him make the call about whether or not I should run. I'll admit it took me a couple of days to arrive at this decision but now I was at peace with it and if I wasn't going to run then so be it.
Did I mention that I got a cold? Yep. Just when I thought I was going to skate through this cold and flu season unscathed I felt myself coming down with something on Wednesday and it was bad enough for me to miss work Thursday and Friday.
This morning I went to gym to test my ankle and my lungs. The ankle felt fine, the lungs felt like garbage. My cold has progressed to the sneezing and runny nose stage and I felt like I could not fill my lungs all the way with air. Hey, at least my ankle felt okay.
I got down to FootWorks PT and popped the question. Neal's answer? GREEN LIGHT. Oh boy, I guess I'm going. Time for positive thoughts.
